Mitsubishi focuses on outdoor and shows several blatant versions

Mitsubishi Motors is participating in the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, one of the world's largest trade fairs for "individualized cars". In the past, one would have said tuning fair. A total of eight vehicles from the brand can be seen on the stand, with the L200 pick-up as the main actor.

Two completely different Mitsubishi L200 pickups take center stage. Representing the Outlander PHEV, which was updated in October last year, there is also a custom concept inspired by the world of the Metal Gear Solid video game series. Also on display are a Delica D:5 minivan, an L200 rally raid and the Delica D:5 and Delica Mini support vehicles that were used in the 2024 Asia Cross Country Rally.

Tuned L200

As mentioned earlier, the new L200 range, called "Triton" in Japan, is the focus of the exhibition, with three models embodying different styles. Designed for urban environments, Hiromi's custom-made car transforms a pick-up truck characterized by large wheels and high ground clearance into a low-lying vehicle that is as close to the ground as possible.

The metal parts have been covered with a matt foil to give a metropolitan look. The winning model of the individualisation competition, on the other hand, is intended to offer a unique expression of creativity and functionality.

L200 "Triton DJ Booth"

A different style was chosen for the "Triton DJ Booth". This event vehicle was developed in collaboration with Red Bull Japan to act as a musical focal point at dance events and other activities of the energetic brand. The designers transformed the body of the L200 into a DJ booth that allows live performances during the events.

A concept inspired by Metal Gear Solid

Not to be overlooked is the innovative Night Seeker Concept based on the Outlander PHEV. This concept is inspired by the universe of the popular video game series Metal Gear Solid. The design is designed to combine Mitsubishi's reliability with the stealth and realism atmosphere of the game.

Minivan Delica D:5

The Delica D:5 minivan comes in the Black Edition Active Seeker with a matte gunmetal finish and green details. The graphic is intended to evoke the topography of Tokachi (Hokkaido), the site of the Mitsubishi test site, and thus adventure and versatility.

Vehicles for the rally can also be seen

The exhibition will be rounded off by the official vehicles that will be used at the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) 2024. The first is the L200 AXCR, a competition car that has been upgraded to the specifications of the FIA class T1. In accordance with their regulations, the racing car has a wide range of modifications, such as an elaborate multi-link rear axle.

The Delica D:5 and Delica Mini models are modified versions for rally support, equipped with increased suspension, all-terrain tires and reinforced guards. The mechanics are on the road with these cars during the rally to support the racing teams. Both vehicles have already successfully mastered over 2,000 km in difficult terrain, proving their robustness and reliability.
